Review: Unwind

Unwind
Neal Shusterman
Unwind #1

Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.
The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child "unwound," whereby all of the child's organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn't technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.

Rating: 5/5

What I Liked:
~ This book was just amazing. The actual concept of the book seems like such a far fetched idea, but somehow the author makes it seem almost logical. He explained everything about the society and the things that made it that way with a lot of detail. I have never read anything like this before and I just read it up!
~The characters. This book follows three main characters but there are multiple point-of-veiws. It is never confusing even with all of the switching POVs. Risa is a strong, smart, and independent girl (I just love it when books have strong female main characters). Connor "the leader", is impulsive at first but he soon learns to think a little. And then there is Lev, he is very naive in the beginning but he quickly learns that everything is not what he was raised to believe. The development and growth of the characters throughout the book is one of my favorite parts.

Cover:
~ It is kind of creepy looking but I really like it and I think it fits the tone of the book.

In All:
~This book kept you on the edge of your seat. It has action, adventure, and just the slightest dash of romance. Amazing!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think? If not, does it interest you?
