Interview with Kia Garriques

1:Hello! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Kia Garriques and I am author of Innover Yakov- The Journey of a thousand eyes. Innovera Yakov: The Journey of A Thousand Eyes is the first installment in an action-packed fantasy drama where characters with powers of healing and destruction live, love, compete and disappear without a trace while they are being prepared for ‘The Journey’. Innovera Yakov is a faraway planet in a faraway universe: under five moons and two brilliant suns that never set. At the very edges of Innovera Yakov there is always the terrifying watery darkness of Verheer. We meet Ayana, the outsider, forever searching for herself and the truth of their world; Vinton, her protector. Gamma and Blu Tara are beautiful, fiery twins who can kill with one look. Innovera Yakov: The Journey of a Thousand Eyes explores the desire for acceptance, the need to belong, the importance of self-belief, the danger of secrets, the pain of betrayal and the power of love.

2.What three things do you never leave home without?
I never leave home without my phone and when I do I really panic, my hair brush and my bag!

3. What words or expressions do you overuse?
Awesome! Cool, sure.

4.Twilight or Harry Potter?
I love them both!

5.What book have you read most of all the books you've read?
Mary Shelley Frankenstein.

6.Coffee or Tea?
Coffee and I should really stop!

7. What are some emotions to describe how it feels to complete a book and get it published?
Ecstatic, happy, sense of achievement, happy, ecstatic, nervous, did I mention happy? Seriously, it’s an achievement and I think authors should be very proud of themselves when they complete a book. It takes a lot out of you.

8. Do you play any sports? If not are there any in particular you enjoy watching?
No, I was never sporty but I love to watch the Olympics.

9. Vampires: Love them or hate them?
I am not sure how I feel about them, but I certainly wouldn’t want to be bitten by one.

10. What is the most rewarding experience you have had since beginning your writing career?
Receiving letters from new readers, fans, people that really get the book. There are those who finds it a challenge and that's fine too. Interestingly, when they've all completed it, the admit that they can't wait to read the next one.

We recently did a free day and I have been receiving lots of emails from readers who say how much reading the book meant to them. Interestingly, its the readers and not the reviewers who gave really hooked onto Innovera Yakov. After reading the book, many have become dedicated fans. And that is wonderful.
